LYO Opportunities as Small Group Leaders!

The Lutheran Youth Organization is currently taking Ministry Team
Applications for the upcoming 2008-2009 LYO Gathering Season.  We are
looking for adults and students to serve specifically on the Servant Life
Team and Small Group Teams (and are still taking applications for other
teams as well).  If you have gifts in the areas of service or in the area of
facilitating small group discussion, then make sure to print your

The five LYO Ministry Teams that plan and execute the Jr. High Gathering and
Sr. High Community of Service are:

1.      Artistic & Visual Design - responsible for space design, lighting
and staging

2.      Peer Life - Peer ministers, hospitality, evening activities 

3.      Small Groups - Small group leaders (must be entering 11th grade or
older)

4.      Servant Life - Organize hotel based service opportunities at Jr.
High and community projects for Sr.  High

5.      Worship Design - plan, lead and arrange worship and music for the
gathering

 

Once your application is received in the synod office, you will receive an
e-mail about "how to register" for the Ministry Team Leadership Retreat,
August 15-17, 2008 at Camp Lutherhill in La Grange, TX.  All team members
are required to attend this event.

 

Adult team members (post high school individuals 18 and older) must attend
LYO Adult Training.  See below for dates:

 

*	Louisiana Training ~ Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 10:00 am - 12:00
pm (Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Chalmette, LA)
*	Houston Training ~ Saturday, August 2, 2008 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
(Houston area Congregation)

 

LYO Parent Informational!  This time will serve to connect parents with LYO
leaders and give insight into the mission, vision and expectations of the
organization.  The Louisiana Parent Informational will be on Saturday, July
26, 2008 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church and the Houston Parent Informational
will be on Saturday, August 2, 2008.  Both sessions will last from 10:00 am
- 12:00 pm
