[Second_site] Servant Companions - Please Read!

Thank you for being a Servant Companion!  

 

As the Team Leader for ServantLife, I want you to know how essential your
role is to the success of the Gathering.  We are doing something new this
summer - we are leading the largest servant experience in the city of New
Orleans (or maybe anywhere!) in only two weeks! In addition to that, as a
Servant Companion, you are part of the largest opportunity for ELCA young
adults to serve together this summer.  I hope you are as excited about this
as I am.

 

 I am writing because I need your help in three ways:

 

1.       Please come ready to serve!  You will be one of three serving
areas, all three dependent on each other to practice service learning.  No
one part is more important than another.   You will have three days of
training to get ready for your role and three days of serving within the
Gathering.  We need you to keep your commitment to the Gathering, to fully
participate and set the bar high for excellence in leadership.

2.      We need 70 more Servant Companions!  You have until Monday night to
get one of your friends to sign up with you.  We really want to have all 500

is providing for you:  housing at Tulane University, meals and a travel
voucher for $250 when they arrive in New Orleans.  Please encourage people
you know with gifts for leadership to participate. 

3.      Begin praying for the Gathering now!  There are so many little
details left to do in the next two weeks to make this new Gathering design
come together.  People are traveling from all over the world.  The city of
New Orleans is getting ready for us too.  Please, make time in the days
ahead to pray for these things:  preparation,  travel, serving, learning,
caring, growing, giving and leaving!  

 

Thanks for your partnership.  Your leadership during the Gathering will make
a huge difference in the experience of the participants and my prayer is
that it has a impact on your deepening faith.  I think you will enjoy your
role - I look forward to meeting you in person.
