TWO Exciting Global Mission Opportunities - Register now!

Dear Friends,

 

I want to personally encourage you to register for the two high-quality
opportunities coming our way in a few weeks.  It is really exciting to have
this quality of back-to-back events, with nationally respected presenters in
our synod.  For those of you interested in coming from the Eastern and far
Western part of our synod, please let me know personally if you need
assistance with housing prior to Sept. 18. (I will be on vacation between
Sept. 19-27.)  I can be reached through email or on my cell phone at
832-594-5016.  It would be wonderful if we had representation from all 126
congregations in our synod!  

 

October 2-3 Global Formation Event is for a Team of Leaders from your
congregation.  This Fri.- Sat. training includes workshops on Global
Mission, Children's Education, Worship & Music, Stewardship, Social Action,
Preaching, New and Renewing Congregations.  National leaders include Rafael
Malpica Padilla, Ex. Director of ELCA Global Mission Unit and Stephen
Bouman, Ex. Director for ELCA Evangelical Outreach and Congregational
Mission.

 

Only $35 total for both days of training.  (Scholarships available!) This is
a great opportunity for young adults to be included in your congregational
leadership team.  Please invite college students, young leaders and seasoned
leaders to share this wonderful learning event.

 

Register ASAP - we need 100 people by Friday, Sept. 11 to make this event a
go!

October 4- Global Mission Festival is for the whole congregation -
activities for all ages!

2 PM Worship with Dr. Leonard Sweet as the guest speaker. (Mission slideshow
at 1:30 PM)

Festival activities from 3:30-6:30 pm includes global food, music, fair
trade arts & crafts, petting zoo and more!

Our synod has a commitment to Global Mission, especially as we support our
companion synods in  Peru & the Central African Republic.  You don't have to
travel out of the USA to be a strong Global Mission partner - and if this is
new to you, this exciting first weekend in October is a good place to begin.
